Changing Image Format for Instagram

02 February, 2021

If we've integrrated an iInstagram feed on your site, you'll have to make sure you upload the proper image format for your phone for it to translate properly and NOT using the •.heic format and use the universally standard of *.jpeg format. (you may not even be aware that your phone is saving in the new *.heic format) The *.heic format shows the thumbnail, but may not parse the enlarged image properly, depending on the browser you use.

Here's how you can change your phone's camera settings to avoid using the *.HEIC format when uploading to Instagram.

Go to Your Phone Camera Settings

Open the Settings app on your phone and scroll down and tap on "Camera."

Choose Format

Select "Formats."

Choose "Most Compatible" instead of "High Efficiency."

By selecting "Most Compatible," your photos will be saved in JPEG format instead of HEIC. This can be handy if you want to ensure compatibility with platforms that may not support HEIC.

If you have an Android phone, the steps might differ, but you can usually find similar settings under the camera app's settings menu.
